To the Polls!

Tuesday, November 3, was not a day like any other day. It was election day. Here at CA we arrived at the polls first block, stood in line to wait for an open spot, was given a ballot, a pen, and an I Voted sticker. Like many adults, the students’ at Academy discussed the issues among themselves before arriving, did a little Googling, and sometimes just voted for the name they thought was the coolest. It took days to learn the results of the true election, but here at CA we knew the next day. See how our votes aligned with the official election, at this time, almost a week later, ballots are still being counted, but official winners have been announced.

Results from CA revealed Joe Biden as the winner. While Biden did win the election, he did not win Missouri. Third party votes drastically impacted votes for the two main candidates here at CA and in some states in the U.S.

When it came to state Amendments we voted the opposite of the public. The official election results are displayed first. These were issues that we saw a lot of students taking the time to look up and read about before they went to the polls.  While the official results were close ours were not.

Missouri Amendment 1. Two-Term Limit More Offices
